Brown Paper Tickets

Brown Paper Tickets is proud to unveil another way to give to causes we care about: the Artist Ticket program.

Here's how it works: if you're an event producer, you can allow your ticket buyers to purchase tickets printed with original artwork by an artist we work with in your event settings. The ticket buyer will pay a small, additional charge and receive a limited edition, collectable ticket, and the charity of our choosing will receive 100% of the additional charge.

If you're a ticket buyer, you can check to see if the limited edition ticket is available to you at the beginning of the ticket checkout process. You receive a small piece of collectable art and support a valuable cause just by purchasing a ticket!

Participating Artists

Ellen Forney & Jim Woodring

We have chosen to launch this program with art by Jim Woodring and Ellen Forney to support the Victims of the Cafe Racer Shooting Memorial Fund, in remembrance of the tragedy that struck a chord for the artistic community in Seattle.

Ellen Forney is a cartoonist and teacher based in Seattle, Washington, whose work has been published by Fantagraphics Books and The Stranger, among other publications. Forney's “I Love Led Zeppelin” was nominated for the prestigious Eisner Award as Best Reality-Based Comic. Her most recent book “Marbles: Mania, Depression, Michelangelo, and Me: A Graphic Novel” was published by Penguin Books in November 2012 and is currently on the New York Times Bestseller list.

Jim Woodring is a Seattle-based cartoonist, fine artist, writer and toy designer. He is best know for the dream-based comics he published in his magazine “Jim” and as the creator of the anthropomorphic cartoon character Frank. He placed twice on The Comics Journal's list of the 100 best comics of the century, where the “Frank” stories ranked #55, and “The Book of Jim” which ranked #71. He has a new 360-page collection of sketchbook drawings entitled "Problematic DeLuxe" coming out in December 2012.

Current Cause

Victims of the Cafe Racer Shooting Memorial Fund

On May 30, 2012, a lone gunman killed five people and wounded one in a shooting spree that began at the local Seattle artist refuge Cafe Racer. Some of the victims were important members of the local community and now, six months after the shootings, there is still much healing that needs to be done.

In an effort to raise funds for the victims' families and the lone survivor, Brown Paper Tickets is offering up to 100,000 limited-edition Cafe Racer Artist Tickets imprinted with works of art donated by nationally recognized artists and Cafe Racer regulars Jim Woodring and Ellen Forney. Ticket buyers can pay an additional fee for an Artist Ticket, all of which will be donated to the Victims of the Cafe Racer Shooting Memorial Fund.
