Foodie Friday: The Bite of Seattle

Food & Drink >

IMG_2610Here in Seattle, Washington we have several food events that happen throughout the summer months. Probably the biggest food-related event is the Bite of Seattle, a free three-day event that boasts hundreds of vendors and thousands of attendees. I have attended this event for many years and have cooked at the event for a couple of different employers over the year as well. I have definitely always enjoyed myself at the Bite and this year was no exception.

There were several things this year that I thought were worth noting such as The Bite Cooks! and The Bite Craft Beer & Hard Cider Tasting. These two events stuck out to me since I love beer, and it’s always been a pleasure to learn how different chefs do what they do. The most mention-worthy however has to be The Alley hosted by Tom Douglas – a section of the event where hot local restaurants wIMG_2601ere helping raise money for Food Lifeline, an extremely efficient organization that helps feed 745,000 people through their 300 food banks and shelters.

After a full afternoon of sampling food, checking out several events and listening to some live music, I worked my way through the crowd and off into the sunset, dreaming about strawberry shortcake in a cup, stir-fried noodles, and dumplings. The Bite of Seattle was certainly the perfect way for a foodie like me to spend a beautiful Northwest summer afternoon. Stay cool!
