Tuesday Tease: New Years’ Resolutions!

vintage-new-years-eve-312013 is coming to a close and 2014 is rapidly approaching. It’s time to start making your New Years’ Resolutions. And, if you’re going to make a resolution, you should make one that you are definitely going to keep. Odds are you aren’t going to finish writing that novel or learn to play the theremin. You may manage to be more organized, but where’s the fun in that?

If you want to make a resolution that you know you are not only going to keep but have fun keeping, resolve to go see more burlesque! To help you out, here are some wonderful shows that are coming up in the very near future.

Saturday, January 4 | Wheel of Tease  There are two things you don’t see a lot of in neo-burlesque today: live music and on-the-spot-improvisation. On the 4th of January, eight burlesque stars will take the stage and create spontaneous performances using props and song chosen by members of the audience. The soundtrack to this “kamikaze burlesque” will be performed live by the Seattle’s only electro-swing band, Good Co. Join us for a night of spur-of-the-moment striptease and silly, sexy fun. 305375-250Friday, January 10 and Saturday, January 11 | Every Sequin is Sacred  This show is inspired by the wit and crassness of the good chaps from Monty Python, with more than tongue in cheek…like a little T & A, and maybe a knob. Join some of the top names in Seattle burlesque as they salute the many sketches, and move you with the movies. Burlesque is used to extravagance, but in keeping with the style of Monty Python the producers have encouraged each performer to keep every “Sequin Sacred.” They will be judged on their $75 or under costume and props by the audience. The bee knees of old-time shows, the razor’s edge between naughty and nice, this show is a nostalgic and fantasy-laced adult musical revue with multiple variety acts.  This is burlesque at its best, performed by America’s longest running, burlesque troupe, The American Burlesque Troupe.

Saturday, January 18 | Burlesque:REMIXED  The Pixie Stixx dancers will be doing what they do best: mixing old with the new! All acts will be performed to remixes, covers, and mash ups of classic songs. The show has elements of classic burlesque infused with ballet, jazz, hip hop, and aerial arts. The show uses the entire venue as a stage, including some of the spectators, and is full of surprises! Featuring national burlesque star:  Di’lovelym Musician, Sara Khula and Calburlesque Kittens’ Jezabella D’lish!
