Resolution Month’s Almost Over….Get Out & Enjoy Some Craft Beer!

We’re nearing the end of “resolution month” when everyone starts hitting the gym, watching what they eat and curbing their alcohol consumption in an attempt to feel healthier and rejuvenated after the excess that is the holidays. As a result, we’re starting to see more food and beer events starting to pop up all over the country because, let’s face it, life’s too short to deny yourself your vices for too long! It’s all about balance, right?

For all you craft beer lovers out there, we’ve thrown together a list of some of the excellent beer festivals, beer dinners, classes, pub crawls and tours going on around the country this week. If one of these events is in your neighborhood, get out there and sample some. You’ve been good all month, you deserve it!

Seattle Pub Crawl 2012Seattle, Washington  On the Seattle Pub Crawl, attendees will visit some of the city’s most beloved pubs and tour an eco-friendly and award winning microbrewery with a museum that Seattle Magazine named, “Best place to learn about beer.” Hear stories of Seattle’s Beer Pioneers (maybe meet one or two) and some of Seattle’s less illustrious history. We end at the famous Crocodile Cafe in the Belltown neighborhood, which is filled with dive bars, lounges, nightclubs and restaurants. Whether you’re out for some great beer or an entertaining stroll, you won’t want this tour to end.

Denver Microbrew TourDenver, Colorado  The Denver Microbrew Tour is a two-hour guided walking tour in downtown Denver’s historic LoDo (lower downtown) area. If you are interested in learning more about the history of beer, how it is made, what the different types are and how they differ, why Denver has been called the Napa Valley of beer, or about the history of Denver and how it became the city it is today, then the Denver Microbrew Tour is for you.

Beer School: Taste the draft and learn the craftNew York, New York  Class includes six selected samples of Jimmy’s constantly rotating drafts and receive an informative session on each beer, history of beer styles and general beer knowledge and anecdotes. Hosted by a Jimmy’s No. 43 beer specialist.

Raleigh Pub Crawl & Haunted Adventure Friday EditionRaleigh, North Carolina  The Friday Edition is designed for all types of guests seeking a unique and different downtown Raleigh experience. The walking tour covers approximately one mile. The Friday Edition tour is wrapped up with a Irish Pub where the live music, drink and food are some the best Raleigh has to offer! In this fun two-and-a-half-hour tour, attendees will obtain special treatment at four of downtown Raleigh’s latest, hip and clever bars & pubs! Your hosts will deliver on known paranormal experiences by telling the time honored ghost story of two of Raleigh’s known haunted houses. They’ll take you to Raleigh’s BEST Irish pub, a spectacular roof view from one of the hottest new clubs in town and an upstart that is really taking the downtown bar scene by storm, plus a few cocktail options for our special guests. NOBILITY is Noble’s semi-annual brew that’s a classic example of a West Coast double or Imperial IPA, utilizing Citra hops in pre and post fermentation. Admission price includes a souvenier glass, 8 taster tix, and 1 full size beer ticket, plus all the live music you can handle. Festival of BarrelsLake George, New York  Come celebrate the Barrel Aged Series this winter at the Adirondack Pub and Brewery with the outdoor Festival of Barrels. Fire pit, food, Adirondack’s signature “snofa” and a collection of their rarest beer will make this event a hit!

Brew Beer in Freehold, New JerseyFreehold, New Jersey  Interested in brewing beer?  Join the Jersey City Brew Club for a day-trip to Brew University in historic Freehold, New Jersey. A chartered bus will pick you up at one of two locations, and the trip will start with an overview of the brewing process. Once onsite, skilled brewers will walk you through a group brewing session where you will collect and mill your own grains and create a fresh batch of beer. The beer will remain onsite while it’s fermenting and will be bottled approximately 2-3 weeks after this event. Once bottled, the Brew Club will assemble in a central location and distribute the final product to those were on the trip.

Local Habit Brew Masters Dinner featuring AleSmith BrewingSan Diego, California  Join Local Habit for this unique food and beer experience as Chef Nick Brune and AleSmith Brewing collaborate to bring you five delicious courses of farm fresh food paired with five unique craft beers from one of San Diego’s premier craft brewers! Local Habit, opened in July 2011 and is committed to using locally-sourced ingredients and supporting California-based purveyors with sustainable agriculture practices. Located in Hillcrest, the restaurant features organic foods made from scratch using seasonally available, local produce, house cured meats and homemade breads. The menu focuses on Nepolitana-style pizzas and tasty small plates and features a variety of items for people with dietary restrictions. The menu also includes farm fresh salads and sides, seasonal bruschetta, artisan cheese boards and desserts.
