Tuesday Tease: Mardi Gras with a Side of Southern Fried Burlesque

20140131223844-1669879_283701681793257_1260797718_oIs it that time again? Can you believe that Fat Tuesday is just a week away? Things have been raging in New Orleans since the 15th but in the rest of the country, this is the week for Mardi Gras madness.

This week I thought I’d highlight some Mardi Gras events happening both north and south of the Mason Dixie line. I also wanted to feature some great burlesque events happening in the South itself, the American home of the Mardi Gras. We all know that Southerners know how to party and this week you can be sure they’ll be strutting their stuff.

If you’re in the North, party like you’re in the South. If you’re in the South, just do what you do and show that Southern pride.

Friday, February 28 to Wednesday, March 26 I The Mason Dixie Burlesque TourVarious Cities  The Mason Dixie Burlesque Tour brings you the hottest vixens from both sides of the Mason-Dixon! In the spring of 2014, these four award-winning ladies will be crossin’ state lines, eight pasties at a time! Starring: Deanna Danger (Richmond, Virginia), Üla Überbusen (New York City), Porcelain (Raleigh, North Carolina) and Hazel Honeysuckle (New York City). Co-producers Deanna Danger and Üla Überbusen bring you a show that’s got class, sass and a whole lotta ass!

Also, check out this great interview we did with Deanna Danger last year on the Tuesday Tease too! She offers some great advise for touring burlesque performers.

Tuesday Tease: Hooray for Hollywood!

1461051_10152129697148993_692879185_nHey teasers! Hope everyone’s New Year’s was safe and celebratory.

Now that the holidays have passed and we’re settling into our normal lives again, I want to, finally, post my review of the Hollywood Burlesque Festival, which took place from December 6 to December 9. Me and fellow BPT-er Michelle went down to LA for four days of hanging with the City of Angels’ best burlesque talent. It was all brought to us courtesy of the incredible Lili Von Schtupp, the woman the LA Times dubbed “The foul-mouthed, buxom Godmother of LA burlesque!”

Lili has been ticketing her Monday Night Tease shows with us for the better part of the last decade and she’s the shining example of what’s possible with a little hard work and a deep love for your chosen art form. Lili hosts Monday Night Tease every week and somehow manages to pack ’em into The 3 Clubs show room week after week, which is no small feat for a show that’s been running for almost a decade. She also runs Lili’s School for Wayward Girls and gives new talent a safe and supportive environment within which to hone their skills. The love the community feels for Lili was more than apparent during the first ever Hollywood Burlesque Festival and I have to say, it’s well deserved.

Tuesday Tease: Merry Christmas! Get Ready for Your New Years Tease!

tuesday_tease_new_years_teaseYou’ve survived the apocalypse and it’s finally Christmas! Hope all of you are with loved ones today, enjoying a relaxing day off.

That said, don’t rest on your laurels too long! It’s time to get ready for New Years Eve; the end of the holiday season and the beginning of a new year, full of new possibilities and new adventures! I know it’s been a long year and I know you’re tired but why, with all that’s going down on New Years Eve, would you stay at home watching a glittery ball drop on TV? Why do that when you can go out and watch glittery bras drop, live and in person?

New Years Eve was made for burlesque: glitter, dancing, champagne and celebration all wrapped up (or more accurately unwrapped) into one night of amazement and fun! You need to be out there, champagne glass in hand, saying “goodbye” to 2012 and welcoming 2013!

Whether you want to sit back, sip your drink and watch the festivities or get out on the dance floor and party, we have got an event for you!
