Did you get your free vinyl last weekend?

Record Store Day is a relatively new holiday based on some strongly-held, old school sentiments that ring true here in Seattle. Brown Paper Tickets isn’t a record store or a record label but we do indeed have a record for record store day. This very special double LP compilation The Right to DIY features artists that work for or with Brown Paper Tickets and encompasses a wide range of musical styles as well as spoken word performance.

Music Doer Bill on Record Store Day – Saturday, April 16, 2011

It’s one day before Record Store Day and I find myself carrying a box of 150 assorted 12″ and 7″ records three and half blocks to a small record store in Madison, WI. As I struggle with the box, getting it to the next trash can or newspaper machine to rest on, I start to think about its contents and some of what these little (heavy, but pretty small) round vinyl discs have meant to me over the years.
