Thursday, September 27 I Instituto Cervantes of Chicago’s September Film Club presents “Chico y Rita” The Instituto Cervantes of Chicago, presents “Chico y Rita” by Fernando Trueba. The screening will be followed by a discussion of the film, trying to create a conversational atmosphere perfect for sharing different views and practice your Spanish. “Chico y Rita” takes place in Cuba in 1948 and follows Chico, a young piano player and Rita, a beautiful singer with big dreams. From the night they meet at a dance in Havana, life pulls them together and pushes them apart like two people dancing a bolero. Music and romantic desire unite them, but their journey brings heartache and torment. “Chico y Rita” perfectly captures the steamy, vibrant atmosphere of 1940s Havana, a time filled with music and romance.
