Milwaukee – The Milwaukee Comedy Festival Starts Tomorrow!

Comedy >

Now in its sixth year, The Milwaukee Comedy Festival, which starts tomorrow, promises a wide variety of comedic styles; from stand up to sketch comedy to improv to video sketches. It’s Wisconsin’s largest comedy event and offers nine different shows over four days. Comedians from all over the country send in submissions, meaning organizers literally have to watch hundreds of videos, selectively picking only the cream of the comedic crop.

While Milwaukee may not be considered a comedic hub, festival organizer Matt Kemple hopes to change that. In a recent article in Inside Milwaukee, Kemple said, “I started the fest in 2006 to bring all the great comedy that was happening here out into the mainstream a little more. It’s always been a really underground scene here.” With hundreds of comedians from across the country competing to perform at his festival, it seems he’s achieved his goal – showcasing not only local talent but national talent as well. The comedy community in Milwaukee has also embraced the festival, throwing fundraisers throughout the year to support it. For this year’s festival, supporters raised more than $25,000, helping make this year’s festival the biggest yet!

Each of the festival’s four days will be packed with live shows, workshops, special events and, of course, after parties. The goal being to create an environment where comedians can perfect their craft in front of receptive audiences. There will also be give-a-ways, drinks specials, door prizes and the whole she-bang is going down at ComedySportz – voted the #1 Comedy Club in Milwaukee by Shepherd Express readers! You can pick up your tickets here. They’re going fast so don’t delay.
