There’s always been plenty of reasons to envy Canada: national health care, low crime rates, cheaper cost of living and a populous that is generally very friendly. But, did you know that Canada also has a thriving burlesque scene?

It makes sense. It gets cold up there in the winter and what better way to get the blood pumping than a hot and steamy burlesque performance? While the majority of our producers are in Seattle’s northern neighbour Vancouver, British Columbia, there are shows all across the great country of Canada.

We thought we’d take the opportunity this week to let you know about some of the great Canadian burlesque that we’re ticketing and encourage any of our Canadian customers to support their local burlesque scene. Doesn’t matter if you’re in BC or Ontario, we got some shimmy and shake for you! Thanks for keeping it sexy Canada.

Friday, March 15 I G-String Fling Burlesque Show  The weather is warming up so the clothes are coming off at the G-String Fling Burelsque Show at the Electric Owl! The Vancouver International Burlesque Festival is around the corner (May 2nd – 4th at the Rio and Vogue Theatres) but the producers are giving you a little taste by showing you Vancouver’s latest batch of burlesque beauties alongside with some of this city’s most entertaining performers. Welcome the budding blossoms from both Burgundy Brixx’s School of Tease & Screaming Chicken Theatrical Society’s Becoming Burlesque: LuLu Rulette, Kiki Lafluer, Scrumptious Suzy Q, Ruby Slickeur, Honey Crisp, Justine Sane and more to come. Also featuring the always hungry for entertaining: Voracious V. Plus the girl who never asks permission: Madame Mae I. Stage kitty stylings by Vanity Feral.

Friday, March 22 I Beatles Burlesque  Beatles Burlesque is a live-music burlesque show that combines music of the “Fab Four,” theatre, and burlesque inspired by The Beatles. This show combines your favourite Beatles songs with burlesque by some of the sexiest starlets in Vancouver, featuring choreography by Vancouver’s go-go queen, Miss Fitt! All the music is performed by a live band, fronted by guitarist Blue Morris. The show is hosted by Ed Sullivan, the Queen of England, and the Maharishi, all performed by the incredible Connie Cahoots! Lucy’s Diamonds have never sparkled quite like this before! This is a saucy ’60s spectacle you won’t want to miss!

Friday, March 29 I Paris à Minuit Burlesque- A cabaret with a certain ‘je ne sais quoi!’  Paris, the city of romance, is home to the most inspired artists and musicians in the world. ‘Paris à Minuit’ will take you on a timeless journey that will titillate your senses and arouse your joie de vivre! Get ready for an evening of silly, sexy and satire featuring burlesque by some of Vancouver’s top performers: Melody Mangler, April O’Peel, Nicky Ninedoors, Miss Fitt, Voracious V, Ruthe Ordare, Connie Cahoots, Voodoo Pixie & August Wiled. with special guest performances by: Luciterra (fusion belly dance), The Hot Pants (retro style dance), Ally ‘Oop (Hula hoop), The Funky Yukinator (juggling) and Katheryn Petersen (accordion).

Satuday, April 13 I Taboo Revue Burlesque Variety Show  Screaming Chicken Theatrical Society presents Vancouver’s biggest and longest running showcase of singing, dancing, variety, comedy and striptease acts. The show is funny, sexy and empowering and is a great time for everyone. Screaming Chicken’s fans tend to be really fun people and it’s not unusual to see them adorned in anything from evening gowns to nearly nothing at all. We definitely encourage dressing up to be part of the fun – it doesn’t matter if it’s formal wear, costume, vintage, burlesque or anything else your creative mind can conceive.
